Girl Scouts of America on Fox Island

Cub Scouts from Pack 202 and Girl Scouts from Troop 290 and Troop 1106 perform the Memorial Day flag ceremony at the Fox Island Cemetery.

Fox Island was home to scouts from Junior Girl Scout Troop 4290, they met at the Nichols Community Center.

FICRA supports scouting in many ways, from providing opportunities for scouts to serve the community, to providing meeting space for island scout groups.

The many contributions to Fox Island from Scouts over the years are greatly appreciated by FICRA and the Fox Island community.

Troop 290 is now Troop 4290 due to the consolidation of the 2 Western Washington Councils, Totem and Pacific Peaks. We are now called ''Girl Scouts of Western Washington.''
The co-leaders are Kelli Shepard and Karla Jo Tupper, assisted by the other parents of the troop in a co-op troop organization.  Interested families can contact Girl Scouts of Western Washington if they would like to join us.

5th and 6th graders and are designated as ''Junior Girl Scouts.''

Girl Scout Troop 290 Plants Nature Garden

Girls from Fox Island's Junior Girl Scout Troop 290 recently completed their Nature Garden as part of earning their Bronze Award. This award is the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn.

The girls admire the completed garden.

Tess, Sarah Aliya, and Heather stand atop the pile of dirt to be spread over the garden area.

Parents and members of Troop 290 add the finishing touches to their Nature Garden, which include a small dry creek bed, rhododendrons, forsythias, violets, poppies, vinca, flowering almond, primroses, and other perennial flowers.

Thanks go to Purdy Topsoil for their donation of 7 yards of dirt; The Fox Island Garden Club for their $100.00 donation (used to purchase plants) and FICRA for their donation of leftover plants from the Annual Fox Island Plant Sale.

Some tired moms at the end of the day,
